Visualising Potential

Sustainable investment in heritage assets and projects means benefits for:

Society

The SIT can help visualise the potential benefits for society; through enhanced understanding of: wellbeing, consideration of the social & community offer as well as the accessibility & engagement of an asset, and the possible skills development within a presented project. These actions are often in partnership.

Economy

The SIT promotes encouraging wider understanding of: economic benefit realised through financing and resourcing of the historic environment; recognising the importance of project/asset financial sustainability, partnership approaches, and acknowledging the potential for leveraging further investment.

Environment

The SIT ensures environmental sustainability is always considered, contribution to net-zero is maximised now and for the future; risk is assessed, and condition is improved with adaptability borne in mind.

Culture

By considering and valuing the cultural significance of the historic environment this SIT can help take into account the knowledge value, rarity and whether an asset is ‘at risk’.

All terms are included and explained in the Using the SIT downloadable pack.
